Silkjade Design
At Silkjade the design process for a simple puzzle game is 2 days or 16 hours. The project
will be taken up to the place holder art stage. Then all that is left is to book in the coder and
musician to cover 2nd and 3rd base. A project will not commence until it is place holder
ready and we like the game play idea on paper. Even for prototype ideas we treat them as a
normal game we just know the game play is "risky".

Final Music
For a standard puzzle game after about 1
month of art production and about 2 months of
coding the product can enter the Beta phase
to iron out bugs. If all is going well after 1 to 2
weeks of testing then the game is ready to go
Gold.
The Gold game is given its special folder and
version number. Package it up and test the
packaged gold game. Then test it again until it
looks the part. Upload it to the website and
send it out into the wild.
A standard puzzle game:
  • 1 Day to develop the complete design document and complete levels layout.
  • 1 Day to develop all the place holder art and place holder music
  • 4 weeks to develop final art
  • 4-8 weeks to develop the final code (Alpha on average in the first 2 weeks)
